What you'll learn:

Session 1: Fundamentals of Cancer Pain Management 
This session will delve into the fundamental concepts of cancer pain management, focusing on the underlying mechanisms of pain in oncology and the assessment of pain in cancer patients. The session will cover cancer-specific pain definitions, the physiology of pain in different types of cancer, and effective pain assessment strategies tailored to oncology practice. 

Session 2: Therapeutic Approaches to Cancer Pain 
This session will explore the range of therapeutic options available for managing cancer pain, encompassing both pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches. Participants will learn about the appropriate use of non-opioid and opioid analgesics in cancer pain management, as well as complementary therapies and interventional techniques. 

Session 3: Individualized Opioid Management in Oncology 
This session will focus on the safe and effective integration of opioid analgesics into cancer pain treatment plans. Participants will learn how to initiate, titrate, and discontinue opioid therapy for acute and chronic cancer pain, while considering factors such as pain severity, treatment goals, and patient preferences. Strategies for minimizing opioid-related risks and maximizing functional improvement will also be discussed. 

Session 4: Interdisciplinary Collaboration in Cancer Pain Management 
This session will explore the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in optimizing cancer pain management. Topics will include recognizing indications for referral to pain specialists, effective communication and teamwork among healthcare providers, and strategies for managing opioid use disorders in cancer patients. The session will emphasize a patient-centered approach to care and the role of the oncologist as part of a multidisciplinary team.
