Updates in the Treatment of Melanoma: Metastatic Disease

The NCCN Guidelines are continuously updated to reflect the newest standards of care in oncology. With the increased pace of cancer research, the breadth of disease sites, the emergence of new diagnostic markers and imaging techniques, and the explosion of new treatment options, clinicians are challenged to keep up with these advances. The new treatment options include use of  sentinel node biopsy for risk stratification, refined patient selection criteria for immunotherapy, use of combination therapies, and use of novel biologically targeted agents. Therefore, there is a great need for clinicians to maintain and continually add to their knowledge of scientific concepts and how those concepts can be applied in the everyday practice setting.
