NCCN Oncology Case Management Program™

NCCN, drawing on the expertise of faculty from its 21 Member Institutions, has developed this oncology education program to inform health plan case managers, medical directors, nurses and physicians working in clinical settings, and other interested individuals about NCCN Guidelines® development, clinical trials, and advances in the delivery of cancer care. Program participants will be educated on topics such as the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®) and NCCN Drugs & Biologics Compendium (NCCN Compendium®), oncology care today, communicating with patients as goals change, head and neck cancer, and understanding clinical trials.

 

There is no fee for this educational activity for non-industry registants.
Industry is defined as people who are currently employed by a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company.

Target Audience

This educational activity is designed to meet the needs of medical directors and other physicians, case managers, nurses, and other specialties within managed care organizations who work with cancer patients.

Learning Objectives

Following this program, participants should be able to:

Understanding and Using the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®) and NCCN Drugs & Biologics Compendium (NCCN Compendium®)

  • Describe the principles of NCCN Guidelines development and methods of NCCN Guidelines implementation
  • Utilize the NCCN Drugs & Biologics Compendium

Communicating with Patients as Goals Change

  • Define advance care planning and explain its importance
  • Describe the steps of advance care planning and how they interrelate 

Oncology Care Today

  • Summarize the overall status of oncology care today in the United States
  • Describe the clinical circumstances when patients require treatment by a multidisciplinary team with sub-specialty expertise

Management of Head and Neck Cancers

  • Summarize the appropriate testing and workup for determining risk
  • Describe the risk stratification that guides treatment decisions and helps to predict outcome

Understanding Clinical Trials in Cancer Care

  • List reasons why clinical trials are important in the field of oncology
  • Identify the phases of clinical trials
