Recorded Presentation - NCCN 2013 Congress Series™: Utilizing Guidelines to Customize Patient Care in Breast Cancer - Making Evidence-Based Treatment Decisions in Advanced Disease

This educational program addresses health care professionals' need to be educated on current and emerging evidence-based scientific data for accurate and timely clinical evaluation of patients with breast cancer. Participants will learn how to implement the NCCN Guidelines recommendations into their practice and gain a clear understanding of the most current treatment recommendations for breast cancer.

Target Audience

This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, pathologists, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals who manage patients with breast cancer.

Learning Objectives

Following this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the management of long term bone health in patients undergoing prolonged endocrine therapy
  • Summarize the considerations in the use of hormonal or cytotoxic therapy with or without targeted therapy and use of single agent versus combination therapy
  • Assess available evidence to evaluate toxicity and effectiveness of therapy in patients with metastatic disease
