Archived Monthly Oncology Tumor Boards: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Individualized Patient Care - Breast Cancer

Management of HER2-Positive Breast Cancer
The treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer is continuously evolving with new therapy options in neoadjuvant, adjuvant, extended adjuvant, and metastatic setting. The decision-making process for patients with HER2-postive tumors should involve a detailed discussion of the benefits and risks associated with all available treatment strategies and the clinical implications of various treatment options with the clinical care team to ensure that evidence based-data is safely and effectively administered. The clinical team should also be proactive in monitoring for and treating adverse events and encourage patients and their caregivers to do so as well. Staying up-to-date with the available treatment options is important for health care professionals to integrate new evidence-based data into their clinical practice, and being familiar with the toxicity profile is important to optimize patient outcomes.
