Recorded Presentation from the NCCN Pharmacy Updates: Palliative Care for Patients with Cancer - Symptom Management for Pain and Dyspnea

Palliative care is an important part of the care of patients with cancer. Pharmacologic interventions for symptom management play an integral role in palliative care. Pharmacists can play a critical role in patient education, therapy recommendations, and therapy management in palliative care and should be familiar with appropriate pharmacologic interventions for symptom management.

Target Audience

This educational program is designed to meet the educational needs of pharmacists, physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other health care professionals who manage patients with cancer.

Learning Objectives

Following this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize the clinical benefits of early palliative care intervention.
  • Choose appropriate therapy recommendations for pain and dyspnea associated with cancer and cancer therapies.
  • Apply best practices for recommending referral to other providers as appropriate.

NCCN Continuing Education Disclosure Policy

A BCOP statement of credit will be issued only upon completion of a post-activity evaluation form and post-test, with a passing grade of 75% achieved.
