Plenary Session – The Patient Journey: Cancer Survivor Care
Management of Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, and Distress in Cancer Survivors
Unfortunately, many cancer survivors report unmet psychosocial needs; therefore, it is critical to educate clinicians who work with cancer survivors on the prevalence of, risk factors for, and optimal management of anxiety, depression, trauma, and distress.
Updates to the NCCN Distress Thermometer and Problem List
The COVID-19 pandemic has been associated with a variety of stressors for patients with cancer, such as treatment and screening delays, vaccine access, and worry about contracting the virus while immunocompromised. It is critical to have a fast and simple screening method that can be used to identify patients who require psychosocial care and/or referral to psychosocial resources. The NCCN Distress Management Panel updates the Problem List (PL) annually as needed to stay up-to-date with patients’ most frequent and current psychosocial concerns.

This educational program is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians/oncologists, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, and other health care professionals who manage patients with cancer.
