NCCN Pharmacy Updates: Updates in the Management of Indolent Non-Hodgkin Lymphomas

In order to help their patients make informed treatment decisions, health care professionals need to understand the clinical data regarding the indications and efficacy of novel therapies. In addition, toxicity management, particularly with the oral agents can pose a unique challenge to pharmacists, nurses, and physicians as well as patients and caregivers. The involvement of a multidisciplinary health care team is vital to ensure adequate safety monitoring and management of treatment related adverse events. Pharmacists play a critical role in patient education, monitoring, and management of treatment-related toxicities and would benefit from a comprehensive review of the novel treatments for indolent non-Hodgkin lymphomas (iNHLs).

Target Audience

This program is designed to meet the educational needs of pharmacists, physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other health care professionals who manage patients with cancer.

Learning Objectives

Following this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Interpret the evidence for and place in therapy of the CD19-directed immunotherapies as well as the antibody-drug conjugates for the treatment of HT of iNHLs to aggressive lymphoma.
  • Discuss the enhanced antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity of the immunomodulatory agent, lenalidomide, in combination with the humanized, anti-CD19 monoclonal antibody, tafasitamab.
  • Compare the side effect profiles of the P13K inhibitors and describe monitoring parameters and management of toxicities.
