ForwardNCCN Pharmacy Updates: Updates in the Treatment of Adult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
Side effects of novel therapies may be severe. Cytokine release syndrome, neurotoxicity, and sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (SOS/VOD) are just some of the serious adverse effects that may occur. With the expanding roles of monoclonal antibodies and CAR-T therapies in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), pharmacists should be aware of their proper place in therapy and side effect management for patient safety.
Target Audience
This program is designed to meet the educational needs of pharmacists, physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other health care professionals who manage patients with cancer.
Learning Objectives
Following this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe the principles of ALL presentation, diagnosis, treatment, and response assessment.
- Analyze relevant literature used to support novel therapies in the primary and relapsed/refractory settings.
- Explain dosage modifications and/or supportive care necessary for SOS/VOD, CRS, neurotoxicity, and infection and summarize the clinical course of these adverse effects.

There is no minimum financial threshold. We ask for disclosure of ALL financial relationships with ineligible companies, regardless of the amount and regardless of the potential relevance of each relationship to the education.

The Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA) is accredited by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) as a provider of board certification oncology credit (BCOP). A BCOP statement of credit will be issued only upon completion of a post-activity evaluation form and post-test, with a passing grade of 75% achieved.
