Evaluation and Treatment of Primary Central Nervous System Lymphoma

Neuroradiologic evaluation, an important part of diagnosis and evaluation of the effectiveness of subsequent therapy, can be confounded by steroids administration used to alleviate symptoms of primary central nervous system lymphomas (PCNSL). These confounding, non-diagnostic results can delay therapies for PCNSL, which commonly consist of methotrexate-based induction and consolidation treatments. Even with therapy, more than half the cases will relapse or be refractory to therapy. Patients with refractory or relapsed treatment have limited options, which include clinical trials; therefore, there is a need to recognize the importance of initial diagnostic and follow-up evaluation of suspected PCNSL cases and the current guideline-recommended treatment options once diagnosis is confirmed.

This program is designed to meet the educational needs of oncologists, hematologists, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, and other health care professionals who manage patients with hematologic malignancies.
