Recorded Presentation of NCCN Optimizing Patient Outcomes - Recent Advancements in Chemoradiation Strategies for Locally Advanced Cervical Cancer

Recent trials have reported advances of chemoradiation strategies in the treatment of locally advanced cervical cancer, which have been incorporated into the NCCN Guidelines®. KEYNOTE-A18 utilizes pembrolizumab in combination with traditional chemoradiation to enhance efficacy, whereas INTERLACE introduces induction chemotherapy in combination with traditional chemoradiation. It is imperative to understand these recommendations in order to appropriately administer treatment recommendations to patients with locally advanced cervical cancer and optimize treatment outcomes.

Target Audience

This program is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, physician associates and other health care professionals who treat patients with cancer.  

Learning Objectives

Following this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Choose the correct FIGO stage for novel treatment strategies in locally advanced cervical cancer patients according to KEYNOTE-A18 and INTERLACE clinical trials.
  • Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of treating locally advanced cervical cancer patients with induction chemotherapy prior to chemoradiation.
  • Describe the toxicities associated with pembrolizumab and chemoradiation in the locally advanced cervical cancer setting.
