Oral Targeted Therapies in Relapsed/Refractory Acute Myeloid Leukemia
Oral targeted therapies represent an important advancement in the management of R/R AML. Not only have these targeted treatments provided effective therapy options for patients with R/R AML who are unable to receive intensive therapy, agents like revumenib, a first-in-class oral menin inhibitor, have been shown to improve outcomes in subtypes of AML, such as AML with KMT2a rearrangement, that is associated with notoriously poor prognosis. Provider education on patient selection and management of unique toxicities of oral targeted therapies such as differentiation syndrome and prolonged QTc is critical in ensuring improvement in overall outcomes.
Target Audience
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of oncologists, hematologists, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, physician associates, and other health care professionals who manage patients with hematologic malignancies.
Learning Objectives
- Review the data from clinical trials supporting the use of oral targeted therapy options for R/R AML and determine appropriate patient selection.
- Identify unique toxicities of oral targeted therapies for R/R AML and outline appropriate management strategies.
