Opioid abuse is an increasing concern in the US; drug poisoning remains the leading cause of injury-related death, with the number of opioid overdose deaths increasing in recent years. However, in the context of this crisis, patient access to much-needed pain medication must be protected.

Many of the more than 15 million cancer survivors in the U.S. have complex health care needs including for the treatment of side effects and the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits. Coordination of this care helps to ensure that all of a survivor’s health needs are met.

The development of new and innovative cancer treatments has expanded the options available to manage patients with cancer.  However, with these advances come challenges for healthcare providers and patients.

The NCCN Guidelines for Survivorship provide screening, evaluation, and treatment recommendations for common consequences of cancer and cancer treatment.
