Keynote Session: Patient Experience with Innovative Therapies
The development of new and innovative cancer treatments has expanded the options available to manage patients with cancer. However, with these advances come challenges for healthcare providers and patients. For clinicians and patients alike, there are challenges relevant to therapeutic decision-making, particularly with selecting optimal therapies and management of a range of potential adverse events. For some patients, there may be barriers to the decision to have treatment, including cost of treatment and healthcare system issues. It is important for healthcare providers to consider the patient experience throughout the decision-making process to optimize treatment outcomes and quality of life.
This information was originally presented at the NCCN 2019 Annual Conference: Improving the Quality, Effectiveness, and Efficiency of Cancer Care™ held in Orlando, Florida, March 21-23, 2019.
Target Audience
This educational program is designed to meet the educational needs of the interprofessional oncology care team, including: physicians/oncologists, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals who manage patients with cancer.

Definitions
NCCN continuing education considers financial relationships to create a “conflict of interest” when an individual has both a financial relationship with a commercial interest and the opportunity to affect CE content about the products or services of a commercial interest with which he/she and/or a spouse or partner has a financial relationship.
NCCN continuing education considers “relevant financial relationships” as financial relationships in any amount occurring within the past 12 months that create a conflict of interest. NCCN does not set a minimal dollar amount for relationships to be significant. Inherent in any amount is the incentive to maintain or increase the value of the relationship.
