Keynote Session: CAR T-cell Therapy - Focus on Lymphomas

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy is a new and rapidly evolving immunotherapy emerging as a novel treatment option for relapsed or refractory lymphomas. Axicabtagene ciloleucel and tisagenlecleucel are the two FDA approved anti-CD19 CAR T-cell therapies for the treatment of relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) after ≥2 prior systemic therapy regimens.  CAR T-cell therapy represents a major paradigm shift from the conventional management strategies for relapsed or refractory lymphomas.  Multidisciplinary approach is required for the monitoring and management of acute toxicities to prevent fatal outcomes in patients treated with CAR-T-cell therapy.  There is a clear need to educate clinicians regarding the special considerations for the administration of CAR T-cell therapy in appropriately selected patients, the unique spectrum of treatment-related adverse events, and the effective management strategies.  Continuing education and practical advice from experts in CAR T-cell therapy should enable clinicians to incorporate these potentially curative treatment options and strategies for the management of unique toxicities into their clinical practice in appropriately selected patients with relapsed or refractory DLBCL and other subtypes of lymphomas.

This educational program is designed to meet the educational needs of oncologists, hematologists, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care professionals who manage patients with hematologic malignancies.

  • Review the evidence from key clinical studies that have evaluated CAR T-cell therapy for relapsed/refractory DLBCL and other subtypes of lymphomas. 
  • Describe the strategies for the management of unique toxicities associated with CAR T-cell therapies.
  • Integrate CAR T-cell therapy into the overall treatment plan in appropriate patients with relapsed/refractory DLBCL.
