Emerging Options and Sequencing Therapies for Relapsed Multiple Myeloma

Promising clinical responses have even been seen in heavily pretreated patients, suggesting that the new therapeutic options benefit those who have exhausted all traditional lines of therapy.  Multiple factors need to be considered when determining an individual’s treatment regimen, including treatment goal, age, timing of relapse, efficacy of and tolerance to prior therapy, comorbidities, and patient preference. The key in maximizing benefit of treatment for patients with relapsed/refractory MM lies in careful choice of individualized treatment regimens along with early recognition and management of treatment or MM associated adverse events.  It is important for health care providers to receive education from experts about how to individualize treatment plans in this complex environment and make the best decisions in their own practice to improve outcomes.

This information was originally presented at the NCCN 13th Annual Congress: Hematologic Malignancies™ held in New York, New York, from September 21-22, 2018.
