Trimodal Therapy Approaches for Localized Rectal Cancer

Trimodal therapy approaches for localized rectal cancer continue to evolve as new data helps define the approaches that will best improve outcomes while reducing adverse effects, as well as which patients will benefit from these treatment methods.  Clinicians would benefit from education on relevant clinical trial results and how they may be best applied to clinical practice.

Target Audience

This educational program is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians/oncologists, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, and other health care professionals who manage patients with cancer.

Learning Objectives

Following this program, participants should be able to:

  • Describe current trimodal therapy approaches for treatment of localized rectal cancer.
  • Evaluate new and emerging data on total neoadjuvant therapy approaches, short-course radiation, and watch-and-wait strategies.
  • Apply clinical trial data into treatment strategies for localized rectal cancer and identify appropriate patients for these methods.

NCCN does not set a minimal dollar amount for relationships to be significant. Inherent in any amount is the incentive to maintain or increase the value of the relationship.
