Tackling Inequities in Multiple Myeloma: Practical Steps for Improving Access and Quality of Care

While there have been significant advancements in the management of multiple myeloma (MM) over the past decade, it is important to recognize that disparities in treatment and survival persist. Identifying patients who may be at risk for health inequity and implementing strategies to improve access and quality of care can help bridge current practice gaps and ensure equitable outcomes for all patients.

Target Audience

This educational program is designed to meet the educational needs of oncologists, hematologists, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, and other health care professionals who manage patients with hematologic malignancies.

Learning Objectives

Following this program, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the unique relevance of racial disparities in multiple myeloma (MM) and related disorders.
  • Recognize the role of socioeconomic determinants of health in shaping the quality of care and treatment outcomes for patients with MM.
  • Identify the prevalent racial inequities in the treatment and outcomes of MM.
  • Discuss strategies to mitigate health inequities and improve access and quality of care.
